In addition to the inherent disciplinary and methodological complexity of Archaeology, field-work operations within engineering projects introduce additional constraints that require special aptitude, competence and experience.

Test excavations, manual or mechanical, consist small excavation areas aiming to assess the archaeological sensitivity of the site and quickly characterize its archaeological levels.
